Vitamin B

Niacinamide (vitamin B3)

Stimulates epidermal skin barrier lipid (ceramides) production resulting in increased hydration and decreased TEWL (Trans Epidermal Water Loss). It also stimulates barrier proteins such as keratin, involucrin and filaggrin essential for optimal barrier functioning and, because of this, decreases inflammation and increases protection from environmental  damage. 

Niacinamide addresses pigmentation by preventing the transfer of melanin from the melanocyte to the keratinocyte and there is continued research into the findings that niacinamide can prevent the immune system being supressed by sunlight. It can stimulate collagen production (B3 is a precursor of collagen) as well as regulate sebaceous lipid production and therefore the severity of acne lesions.

Panthenol

Also known as pro vitamin B5 can amplify the effects of B3. The t wo  work in synergy to stabilise the skin barrier, soothe, heal, improve skin softness and plump the sk in to reduce the appearance of fine lines. It has also been clinically proven to exhibit anti-bacterial properties.

HyalaVive

Hyaluronic acid (high molecular weight)

The best type of hyaluronic acid for epidermal surface hydration and preventing water loss from the skin. High molecular weight hyaluronic acid attracts and binds water to the skin like a magnet, to provide a visible film of hydration to the top layers of the skin, while visibly reducing fine lines and smoothing the skins texture.

Hyaluronic acid (medium molecular weight)

Medium weight hyaluronic acid passes through the surface layers of the skin. It locks in moisture on a deeper level of the epidermis for enhanced barrier protection, reduction of fine lines and improved skin texture. Medium molecular weight hyaluronic acid and helps calm the skin and reduce inflammation.

Hyaluronic acid (micro/hydrolysed, ultra-low molecular weight)

Micro-hyaluronic acid is a new super active ultra-low molecular weight hyaluronic acid that can quickly penetrate to offer increased hydration to the deeper levels of the skin. As well as an optimised barrier function, deeper hydration, minimising fine lines and improving skin elasticity, micro hyaluronic acid offers antioxidant protection to the skin to combat environmental free radical damage. It can also reduce and protect against skin inflammation, reduce skin sensitivity, and support wound healing of the skin.

TriCeramide Complex (Ceramide EOP, Ceramide NP and Ceramide AP)

The TriCeramide Complex harnesses three types of skin-identical skin ceramides to reinforce the skin’s natural lipid system. Ceramides impact increased hydration, reduced environmental damage, and calms irritated skin to restore and strengthen the protective barrier. This will result in smoother and firmer skin, fewer visible wrinkles, and reduced redness and sensitivity.

Vitamin B12

Vitamin B12 is the naturally pink super-vitamin that reduces redness and repairs damaged and inflamed skin. Vitamin B12 soothes and regenerates sensitive and stressed skin to reduce itchy, dry, irritated, reddened, and cracked skin. It protects the vulnerable skin barrier from inflammation and plays a significant role in wound healing and skin recovery.

HydroLock

Wild pansy (hydrolysed viola tricolour) extract

A next generation active botanical ingredient containing a concentrate from wild pansies to balance and target the passage of water to the skin cells that need it. This extract addresses hydration on a new level to help maintain skin suppleness, promote a dewy glow and reduce the appearance of wrinkles.

Hydrolysed hyaluronic acid (ultra-low molecular weight)

Fragmentation of large hyaluronic acid polymers to produce ultra-low molecular weight hyaluronic acid, penetrates more deeply than the higher molecular weight hyaluronic acid and increases the levels of naturally produced hyaluronic acid in the skin. This will help to significantly improve barrier function, improve dermal and epidermal hydration, improve elasticity, and reduce the appearance of wrinkles on a deeper level.

Hyaluronic acid (high molecular weight)

Referred to as the 'natural super moisturiser', this substance can hold 1000 times its weight in water and is applied topically to hydrate surface skin by constantly attracting moisture. Although this type of hyaluronic acid cannot penetrate deeply it is still able to hydrate the surface layers to minimise the surface appearance of crepiness and fine lines.

Superoxide dismutase (SOD)

An enzymatic antioxidant, bioidentical to SOD found in human cells. SOD is well known for its role in neutralising the superoxide free radical. It is widely believed that SOD can enhance sunscreen products and protect against both the damaging effects of the environment and cell damage from within the body. Environmental damage significantly increases the level of free radicals the body encounters. SOD is a powerful free radical scavenger to protect the skin from oxidative damage from UVB rays. SOD protects the skin and helps combat photoageing, leaving the skin healthier and more youthful.

Betaine

Acts as a humectant (water sponge) and can also control and maintain water balance in the skin. It counteracts skin irritants and assists in reducing general skin irritation and barrier disruption.
